Manual entry of image scaling #'s and/or "fine" mode

The image scaling (resize) feature is handy, but it can be cumbersome to use the slider when trying to hit a precise pixel number. A manual entry option would be VERY useful. Also useful, would be a “fine” mode which would force the slider into single pixel increments upon holding down a key like or .

Thanks for a great product.

If you need precision, it is better to use photo manipulation software to correctly size and process the images for output, prior to import, as this slider is just going to apply a basic Cocoa resize. It isn’t meant to replace one of these, but just give you a quick and dirty way to resize a graphic regardless of any quality needs, for placeholders and the like.

A related suggestion:

The Image Tools HUD include “scale to fit”, “rotate” and “actual size” buttons. I would find it very useful if there was a “fit width” button, since often I am viewing scans of full pages of documents. Scaling to fit is almost always too small to read, but fit width would be perfect.

Thanks,
Simon

Thanks Amber. Quick and dirty placeholder is exactly what I need.

I’m using the A/V-Documentary template and like to include a snapshot of and interviewee in the video column to help me keep track of lots of different people. Sometimes the pictures will be automatically resized to stay within the confines or the table cell; other times not (bug?). Resizing each picture by hand is a workaround. I just happen to be picky about a seeing consistent size to the pics.

I can definitely see your case, since they are all lined up a column like that, I think I would prefer them to be the same size as well even if they were only there as a visual aid for me alone. Hmm, do you use any kind of image manipulation software? Some programs have the ability to make scriptable dropets or macros that make it easy to batch process images. You could drop the image on this, or run the macro, and then import it already pre-sized perfectly. Try GraphicConverter if you don’t have one. It doesn’t cost a lot and is a handy tool to have around if you work with images on a more than casual basis.

Anyway, your idea of adding weight to the major tick lines in the good one—in fact I’m pretty sure that’s already on the list of things to look into.

You made a good case for this requirement, and I have added it for the next update:

All the best,
