Manual Save methods and Snapshots

I know you can check take snapshots on manual save and File > Back up to is considered a manual save method that would trigger snapshots if the option is checked.
My question is would these methods of manually saving trigger snapshots?
? File > Save
? File > Save As
? File > Sync

File > Save does. Perhaps you can test each of these and see which do, indeed, trigger snapshots.

I was, but was trying to avoid all the permutations. Also File > Save and rebuild file index does as well, but NOT Back up to or Back up Now commands, or close project commands. Interesting which does and does not. Could not find in the manual.

Surely, since “Back up to” and “Back up” save the entire project, they are, in essence, making a snapshot of the whole project, so there is no point in snapshotting any individual documents within the project.

Perhaps the word that is being glossed over here is manually saved? This function, and the auto-backup option as well, only trigger when manually saving. Both of those words are necessary. It’s not going to happen if you do something else entirely, like syncing, or making a backup, or closing a window.

Makes sense. I was trying to figure what mechanisms of saving a project also triggered the creation of snapshots for any documents that were changed since the last project save.

The idea behind these two options is to keep these events tied to human motivations and actions. There are already other events that can trigger snapshots or backups automatically (like syncing), so this one is meant to put you in control of the timestamp, so to speak, so that you can better see your own significant milestones from the products of all of the automated safety nets around them.

Makes sense to me, thanks for the explanation. It was not clear from the manual, but your logic makes sense.
