Merge as New ; Merged as Trash

The Document-Merge command can save the user some steps, but it’s just too abrupt for comfortable use. It needs a bit of civilizing.

So I’d propose a more gracious companion, Merge as New, that would create a consolidated document while leaving its constituent elements intact.

And on the present Merge, wouldn’t it make sense for the merged-in documents to be brought to the Trash, rather than obliterated? Trash enables users to double check and correct a misstep, on occasions when foresight has come afterward.

Thanks for considering – Jerome

Just hit Duplicate before using the Merge function, and you can achieve exactly what you want.
Hope that helps.

All the best,

It does indeed. Thanks, Keith.
