Michael Marshall Smith's anti-nobody-review rant

I am just not sure what I am actually translating!

What youve got to remember, is:The brain thats generating this particular conundrum, is actually upside down and back to front. To stand any chance of deciphering said conundrum, stand on your head, facing away from display, and use a mirror to read text on screen.
Hope this helps

I tried that, but I was wearing a skirt and the neighbours phoned the police to complain.

I did think to counsel against such eventuality. I refrained, however, lest you took it as being presumptuous and indelicate.

Here’s the problem for those who are paying attention

Here’s a hint

Here’s as close to the answer as I can get without giving it away

I expect the programmers probably figured this out, while amber new the answer before I did. Here goes.

Do the math and you get

A sixteen bit word uses hexadecimal (aka hex) encoding for rational display. For those mathematicians out there think Base16. The typical representation for hex is 0-9A-E. Since the letters you see are just a series of 1 and 0, we can simply change from one encoding to another for visual representation.

Who the heck cares? You should if you want to read the message I posted. Although it is really boring and not worth all the effort for you guys. You can just go to the link KB provided and click the “hex” link to decode it. You can blame KB as I was just going to “go away” when I saw the hex encoder there.

So there.

WAIT a sec, that “clue” was to decipher your PREVIOUS code?? I already DID that one!!!

I thought the nibble bit and byte thing was a TOTALLY NEW one! I burnt my BRAIN out trying to figure out WHAT I was supposed to run through the decoder!!

I was running " thrice, ansi c wide" through substitution cipher decoders and vigenere cipher decoders and it just didn’t make sense!

you made me break my brain!

[pouts]

Serves you right! Running through that lot, its no wonder. You should watch where youre running!

How sad that Keith Floyd is no longer with us. He’d have taken all these nibbles and bytes and lovingly pan fried them with garlic, capers and basil, before serving them as an accompaniment to a delicious steak Pizzaiola. Life sure ain’t what it was…
:unamused:

That was such strange timing too - I watched the Keith Allen interview with him the night before, and then in the morning after the program, he’s dead. He did look terrible in that interview, though - what a sad life, too, in the end.

My husband watched that show too, and made the unfortunate comment that he looked ready for the grave. Do you imagine he’d have done something different if he’d known that it would be his last interview?

I find it slightly difficult to describe how I feel about everyone being able to write reviews. In essence, I think it is a great idea, and although some people may spoil it by rude, unhelpful reviews, so many people do their best to be helpful, and their comments have helped me make choices I love, even down to switching to a Mac!

I write reviews on the iTunes App Store, because I think it’s really valuable to have user opinions rather than relying on blurb. Whenever I review I try really hard to say something that will be useful to anyone who reads it. I also read the comments others have left. I have reported a couple-ones which are rude in tone or language and don’t say why they don’t like something. And in the end, I think this form of moderation works very well.

I have read many books all through my life-I love reading and writing and did very well in school, but despite genuine effort, I struggle with my spelling. i don’t see that this should disqualify me from sharing my opinions.

That abrupt and crazy swerve back onto topic made my tummy go funny!

Sorry, but I wanted to make that comment, and I couldn’t insert it earlier into the stream!

We — in particular the many varieties of Vic-K — are truly delighted that the delectable Pink is once more contributing to this forum. However, in the thread:

https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/storybook/6460/1

there is a posting by one “Pink Ink”, with no avatar and no address. Is this another “shadowy” character, à la DMJ, whose existence may be questioned, really being Pink posting under another persona? I think we ought to know, in case the many Vic-Ks each multiply themselves in response.

You know things are going wrong when people start apologising for veering on topic…

sorry!

Oh my Goodness, look up there! I think it’s a flying elephant!

That said, Pink Ink is not a vestige of my personality, and the idea of vic-k’s personalities expanding rapidly in mitosistic form is somewhat alarming.

You didn’t see the elephant? How strange. Never mind.

Right now, the way Im feeling (ME), I couldnt split an infinitive, never mind myself into 2/4/8/16… But! Who knows what the future may hold for Mankind :smiling_imp: You haf been varned!!
Take care,
(Not sure who wrote this).

you see what happens when you eat too many doughnut and cheese sandwiches?

Of course, itll come as no surprise to any of Scrivs crew members, that you are a flauntist with a modern vibrator.
