Migrating projects to 3.0 from 1.?

I have searched for this topic and learned it’s a matter of simply opening the old project. The problem is, I can’t find them. the Dropbox file where they were stored seems to be empty. I did a backup, but I can’t find it, and now the old version of Scrivener won’t open. Over 80k words in two projects at risk. HELP!

have you done a search on your system for .scriv? That’s the full scrivener project. While you don’t specify, I’m guessing you are on Windows. You open that folder and select the .scrivx file in scrivener to open. On a Mac, you’d just select to open the .scriv in Scrivener.

When you say the Dropbox file, I’m assuming you are referring to the dropbox folder on your system?

As for backups, if you can’t remember the folder where you stored them, try a search on .zip (assuming you selected to compress your backups)

Thank you! Your first suggestion worked, though I had to open it from the search results rather than opening the folder, because once I opened the folder the scrivx files didn’t show up for some reason. I’m just grateful I recovered those two files!

Searching on .zip would have returned hundreds of files, so I’ll be sure to make a note of where the backups get filed next time.

Thanks again!
