It would be great if a mobile version was available for my iPhone, or for any other phone. Reason being, I’m always coming up with ideas while I’m working, or on the go. And to be able to access my projects like my cloud documents - would be brilliant!
A bit like this?
Perhaps a quicker fix for this need would be an interface to Evernote?
Writing a whole new editor for both Android and IOS is a daunting task for anyone, including the Scrivener programmers, I’m sure. But, if they could pull in notes from already existing “primitive” editors like Evernote, then that would immediately extend the reach of Scrivener with a minimum of programming effort. (not to downplay the challenge of interacting with Evernote!)
To satisfy my “on the go” idea jottings, I use a combination of Evernote and digital recordings, which I then transcribe using Dragon Naturally Speaking. Scrivener then works beautifully to organize these snippets. Of course, you can interface with Evernote right now, simply by scheduling a “cut and paste” session on your desktop from time to time.
Well on the Mac there is SimpleNote and Index Card sync as well as a general purpose “watched folder” type sync, where you can export components of your draft and the software will keep the internal project up to date with any changes made on the disk. It becomes more useful when pointing the folder at a share location (for collaboration) or something that syncs, like Dropbox. Then you can use any number of Dropbox capable text editors on mobile devices to edit these files and sync back up when you get home. The latter will be coming to Windows, hopefully sooner than later, but syncing with our own iOS program will take the priority, naturally.
