I’m in a situation where I need to point to the same footnote from multiple places in the text. Is this even possible in Scrivener? I’d really like to avoid having multiple footnotes with identical text if at all possible.
Is there anyone out there that knows if this is possible? I’m getting down to the wire for my paper, and I haven’t been able to find any information on this.
Generally if people around here know, they answer. So my guess would be that it’s not… I know the beta has a redo of the footnote system with inspector footnotes, so I don’t know if that overhaul features the ability - but if so it wasn’t mentioned in the most recent release.
However, if you know the footnote number you want to refer to, you could simply insert that number into your text and superscript it. It won’t update dynamically though, and if your paper is over a page then you should probably not be referring to a footnote that is not on the current page anyway, as far as I’m aware.
Thank you. Superscriping, it is!
Yeah, there is no automatic way of doing this in Scrivener. Each footnote instance creates a new footnote. The new alternate method is merely a different display mechanism, and since it is in addition to the existing stable system, will allow us to code in multiple streams for those that need both endnotes and footnotes. But they are both fundamentally the same feature.
