My wife and I have a fat cat named “Sir Alex”. He has done this plenty of times. WE have had him on frontline (Flea and tick medication). What we found out was that he was ALLERGIC to FLEAS!
So even though a flea would jump on him, bite him, then die from the pesticide (Frontline) the actual bite would cause Sir Alex to go nuts chewing on his fur till his but was almost bald. (Nothing like having an “lordly” cat put his bald butt in your face. You feel like a serf)
So it may be an allergic reaction to something in the house, a reaction to a recent shot, fleas in the yard, or you could be sleepwalking and doing unspeakable experimental things to your cat and you are left unaware.
In reality it is probably fleas or dry skin from the CAT FOOD which an oatmeal bath may help.
I thought that everyone was allergic to fleas, misquotes, and the various “poison” ivy types. Hence the itching. The difference was the severity of the reaction.
Now we’ll never be able to assume that Jaysen is misspelling in any of his posts, as he claims … or doing it on purpose! Bit like our formerly self-styled “hairy-arsed welder” suddenly launching into iambic pentameter!!!

I read that and didn’t even notice the misappropriation of the word!
Wock, Mr Evil, aka Toby, Tobes, the Tobmeister, Toblerone or Toby Woby (he’ll kill me for telling you that) has now had two shots of cortisone from the vet. They decided he had dermatitis, and think the cortisone should sort it out. So far it’s worked, and he’s no longer making new bald patches. In fact, the old bits are no longer visible either.
Cheeeky `aipeth!
scratch here scratch
Ah, you see, it’s the scratching that makes it continue to itch. Try it with mosquito bites, or even misquotes … leave them alone and they go away.
