Hello. Many thanks for your marvelous work.
I am currently using Scrivener beta version 2.9.9.5. When I activate the automatic backup option, there is an error on the location, even after having specified the location in Options / Backup / location. The system has memorized an old location, which is added to the new one, as you can see in attached file.
I tried all the settings, I couldn’t change anything, and the automatic backup no longer works.
Many thanks for your answer.
PS :
My old location was :
C:$B-RICHARD TOUS AUTRES DOSSIERS\1480 - SUR L’ECRITURE DONT GRANDS SCENARIOS - Partagé $A1480
My new one is :
C:$B-RICHARD TOUS AUTRES DOSSIERS\1618 - LE SECRET DE LA LUCIOLE - SAUVEGARDES\1 - SCRIVENER 3
PS 2 : Even with this “Automatic backup error location”, Backup project location and Option/Backup location are the same, as you can see it :
This does look like a bug, but when you set the backup folder, did you copy/paste the path into ‘Backup Location’ or did you use the ‘Choose…’ button to navigate to the backup folder?
Try setting the backup folder again, using the ‘Choose…’ button to navigate to it.
Best,
Jim
Thanks for your answer.
I did as you suggested. But it’s always the same.
I found the source of the problem.
There is a third menu to choose the backup folder, in the “Project settings” (in French : Paramètres du projet), as you can see on the attached screenshot. Which is really very, very complicated, and generates redundancies.
This especially since, obviously, it is this third menu which “controls” the action of automatic backups, and NOT “Backup location” in Options / Backup.
Indeed, since I corrected the localization in the Project settings, the automatic backup works. All this means that it is absolutely necessary to “coordinate” (make coherent between them) the “3” menus for choosing the backup folder.
The best
Richard
This is behavior by design. By default when you create a new project, this per-project setting is not set and is not used by Scrivener. It will use the same Scrivener-wide default location set under Tools.
However, if you need to have a separate backup location on a per-project basis, you can set that information in the Project Settings as you found. When this project is backed up, it will use this location instead of the default Scrivener location.
