The Antagonist in my mystery is also a Suspect. The Antagonists and Suspects sub-folders are in the Characters folder. Having the Antagonist character sketch in the Antagonists folder, as it is now, is it possible to place this sketch’s shortcut in the Suspects folder? If not, what is the best way to achieve this? I considered bookmarks but I can’t apply a bookmark to a folder.

There are couple of tools you might be able to use to accomplish this.
You can use Document Links to create links from text to Documents or Folders. If you want your links embedded in the text of a Document or a Folder, this is what you’d use. See the section of the Tutorial called Document Links (Going Further > Writing and Editing > Document Links), and see if those do what you want.
Document Bookmarks are a means to creating Document to Document links, which you’d view in the Inspector. See the Tutorial for details. (The Basics > The Inspector > Bookmarks) (Not sure why you think folders won’t work for bookmarks, they do.) If you just want to associate a list of documents/folders to another document/folder via the Inspector, this is what you’d use.
Project Bookmarks give you a way to access frequently used Documents or Folders. (Not sure why you think folders won’t work for bookmarks, they do.) Very handy for quick launching a small group of documents in Quick Ref windows. Project Bookmarks probably isn’t what you want, but I included them for completeness.
Check those out, and if none of them are satisfactory, let me know what’s lacking.

Thanks for this. I forgot that, in Scrivener, folders are actually text documents. I was able to add the character sketch document as a bookmark to the folder. I think I’ll just use this method. Thanks.
Question. Later on, if I forget, how am I supposed to know that there is a document bookmark on the Suspects folder? It’s unlikely that I would explicitly select the folder in the binder.
When you create a Document Bookmark, a back-link is created in the target document, pointing back to the originating document. So if your viewing the Suspects folder, you’ll see back-links in the Inspector.
Same thing is true for Document Links, which I didn’t know, so thanks for asking the question!

Perfect! As described in the manual, now I see the back-link bookmark to the Suspects folder in the target Character Sketch’s document bookmarks. But, if I remove the original document bookmark (the sketch added to the folder), the back-link document bookmark in the sketch document is not automatically removed. I have to do it manually. Doing the reverse is also the same case (removing the back-link bookmark first). How can I make it automatic? Thanks.
It’s supposed to be automatically removed, so I think you’ve found a bug, Tex. :mrgreen:

FYI, L&L responded to the bug report above. Not a bug. By design, the automatically created back-link is not automatically deleted if the original Doc Bookmark is deleted. But they did move it to the Wish List as a possible new feature.
By the way, in case you didn’t catch it in the manual, you can turn off the feature that automatically creates back-links. Options > Behaviors > Document Links > disable Document links and bookmarks create Back-link bookmarks
