[NB] Word Count is showing incorrectly in the Editor Header Bar

Context: I have three books sitting as separate folders in the Manuscript folder. They are:

  • A Boy Named Su (completed first draft, 76,331 words)
  • Su in Black (half-way through first draft, presently 36,229 words)
  • Su Walks the Line (draft not started)

If I click on The Boy Named Su folder in either the corkboard or scrivening view the header shows the correct word count, while the scrivening view footer also shows the correct word cound.
If I click on Su in Black in either the corkboard or scrivening view the header shows an incorrect count of 76,331 (which is the number of the first folder). In the scrivening view the footer shows a correct count of 36,229 words.
If I click on Su Walks the Line in either the corkboard or scrivening view the header shows an incorrect count of 76,331 (which is the number of the first folder). In the scrivening view the footer shows a correct count of 299 words.

I have attached three pictures from the screen.

And just to confirm that the bug occurs in other projects.

Not a bug.

The word count in the Quick Search bar reflects the Compile settings, and so it won’t change regardless of what you select in the Binder.

Katherine

Dang! Got excited there because I knew the answer then scrolled down to Katherine’s post.

I think that should be made clear/clearer in the manual. I spent perhaps 15 minutes trying to track down what the Editor Header Bar actually was called, and certainly saw no reference to the word count reflecting the compile setting. It appears a remarkably obtuse location for it.

But I do agree that its showing the text count of files selected by the compile, though technically not the compiled word count. If you set the compile to only include the synopsis it still counts all the text.

Well at least I know now. Thanks.
