Netflix's Cleopatra: why we shouldn't re-imagine the past

While I understand your reasoning, “topics/debates that should not be had” are surprisingly diverse, depending on where and when you’re unfortunate enough to live. Try democracy in China. Gay rights or women’s rights (or actually anything not Islam) in Saudi Arabia. Criticising the powerful basically everywhere. The difference between a good (legal, moral) or bad (illegal, immoral) idea is often just a matter of some miles or years. I believe that discussing stupid ideas is generally less dangerous than letting random folks decide which ideas are “too dangerous” to discuss.

(And yes, at the same time I was also wondering if this is right place for such debates, when there are plenty of others that are not tied to a specific product / topic. But that’s not the point. I’m just mentioning it because inevitably somebody will ask [again] why I opposed politics on this board.)

I would start a thread about my cat.
Tell you all guys and ladies how smart and pretty he is.
Post pictures in various situations. Weekly videos.
My cat outside. My cat purring. My cat playing. My cat first snow. Birds at the window.
Let me tell you about his favorite food.
I bought “talk buttons”… My cat’s birthday.

I wonder how long it’ll take for someone to complain this has nothing to do with the software?

I certainly don’t mind a little off topic chit-chat, but if a moderator has to intervene in a global/general fashion (I mean we’re not talking one or two users displaying behavioral issues, but rather moderate the topic itself, sort of) that’d be for me the sign that the whole discussion (or where it’s at after veering off topic, having no more of what at first made it relevant to writing, even remotely) however interesting to some (and anything but, to others) is happening in the wrong forum.

My opinion. Nothing more than my opinion.

If you want a passionate off-topic debate, try eating your cat in an embedded livestream. (Please don’t outside of this example!)

You’re entitled to your opinion. Literature & Latte (or any forum owner) is entitled to decide what topics to allow (or not) in our space.

Certainly there are topics that are absolutely legal to discuss in the United States (my home) or the United Kingdom (L&L’s corporate home) that would get you banned from this forum.

Of course. Your forum, your rules. That was never up for debate. (No pun intended.)

Seriously ? You ask as if TC, or anyone on Fox (fake) News, never offered an opinion … as fact !

Interesting when the mud they sling comes back to smear them ! (or in this case dismantle their home office that FN originally built for them … what a slap down ! )

This has everything to do with the original question for this post … why we shouldn’t re-imagine the past

FN are the MASTERS of not only re-imagining the past, but of re-imagining the FACTS !

… This is Sssooo much fun !

Don’t you just love it ?

Have a blessed day !
