Is it possible to “borrow” the dictionary from other programs?
My Norwegian dictionary is… way to small. I seem to spend most of my time adding new words. (And that is NOT a good idea, as I have spent WAY to much time in Sweden to be able to trust my “Norwegian Instincts” when I write). So I keep using several online dictionaries in order to be sure I do not add misspelled words.
But I DO have a valid MS word license. And the Open Office text editor is free, and does have a downloadable Norwegian dictionary.
Is it possible to use one of these dictionaries instead of the Scrivener dictionary?
(Another issue, however small is that whenever I update Scrivener, it seems all my settings revert back to US/Scrivener-standard. Dictionary, measurements… everything. No big problem correcting it. Again. But I would really like to KEEP the project-language and settings when updating).
Scrivener currently uses the Aspell 0.5.3 dictionaries, so while any of these are available, it is not possible to sub in a dictionary from another program. We do realize that this provides limited offerings, so it is something we’d like to change in the future when we have the resources to do so.
I’ll check on the unit reversion and such–are you using the automatic update or uninstalling and reinstalling? Have you tried saving your options once you have them set up (via the “Manage” button in Options), then reloading them after an update?
Is this still the case? I’m asking because the default Dutch dictionary is very poor and would like to replace it with, for example, the FireFox dictionary. Or any other dictionary for that matter.
