new element kind when syncing from external folder

Good morning everyone.

I created a new text file into external folder. When opening the project, the new file was synced with Scrivener and a new element was created into the manuscript section of the Binder.

That element, though, has a different icon (it’s yellow and with a sort of outline) from the others text elements. Kind of characters is different as well. See image encloses (where many new elements are showed, afterward I made some other tries).

I coundn’t find a way to «convert» that element so that is the same of the other text ones.

And I wonder I can set it up to create new element, when syncing with an external folder, the same kind of the other ones.

I guess I am using that feature very often for brainstorming purposes: whenever I get hit by a new idea, I can get to my phone and drop it into a new dropbox text file, so that I can work on it later on Scrivener. So I would like to understand well how it works.

Thank you.

From your other thread on Markdown, I would think you used Fountain markup, as those documents are in “Script” mode. You can turn “Script” mode off very easily, but I don’t use it and I’m not at my Mac, so I can tell you the command off hand.

Go to the “Help” menu and type “Script” in the Search space there. It’ll show you all the menu entries containing that word.

Hope that helps.

You might do better to set up a folder on Dropbox or similar as the folder for your Scratchpad and use that instead. That is what I used to do. It also has the advantage that you can jot down ideas on your Mac without opening Scrivener. I used to use nvALT for this, but any text editor would do. On my phone I used Byword or 1Writer for my jottings.

Manca una “n” nella parola “counselling” .

Thank you.

You are right, If you set fountain as a destination format Scrivener when importing assumes its a script format.

Thanks again.
