Newbie question: does Scrivener copy or replace files?

When Scrivener opens an existing file and adds it to a project, and then one edits that file in Scrivener, does the original file change, or only the copy of that file in the Scrivener project?

Similarly, if one deletes a file from Scrivener, is only the copy deleted, or the original file, too?

Thanks…

Hi Brievine,

Short answer is that what you do in Scrivener stays in Scrivener. When you import
a file, it exists in Scriv independently. There are no links to the original. You can do
whatever you want, including delete it, and the original file will be unchanged.

Hope this helps,

Tim

Thank you!

That is exactly what I wanted to know.
