I am a new user. Currently operating on trial, trying to make decision on whether to purchase (not trying to use that as leverage - I know there are a lot of users and it’s not possible to make everyone happy). Anyway, having thoroughly reviewed the tutorial and help documents, and importing my WIP, creating my novel template, etc., I’ve come across a few things that I at least would find extremely helpful. At least a couple qualify as new suggestions, as far as I can tell anyway. Bear in mind I’m on Windows, so although I searched the wish list board, I may have missed something by virtue of the fact that it already exists on Mac and just isn’t in Windows yet (or just bad searching). Anyway, without further ado, here we are:
-
In binder, option to show word count (total for groups, count for single text). In addition to, not replacing, the option of showing number of sub items.
-
Target/progress should populate progress bar for groups (off of total word count). In windows at least, the progress bar is there but doesn’t change. Maybe group targets and progress should represent sum of individual documents within automatically rather than having separate values … but I know that might be a problem given containers can themselves contain text.
-
Session target to be more visible. Perhaps in document footer?
-
Project target to be more visible. Perhaps in corkboard and outline footer and/or binder footer?
-
Option to have scroll bar in binder always present. In case want to put floating window in bottom area, eg (which makes the bottom portion inaccessible if contents of binder are long enough).
-
Graphs of custom meta data (numerical). Similar to: [url]https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/story-pace-chart-feature-using-metadata-input/16391/2], yet I propose any numerical custom meta data can be charted (and hope that the value is seen in actually charting vs asterisks in outline or similar … and of course using labels to do it removes other functionality that labels can be used for).
-
Option to dock projects keywords window (eg to bottom of binder pane). Somewhat separetely, should be able to save the location of the keywords window as part of the template and/or layout, whether docked or not. Similar but perhaps (?) a little different from jwleson’s suggestion here: [url]https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/display-keywords-panel-where-you-use-it/17976/3]. Alternatively or additionally, perhaps it could behave like notes in the Inspector - a dropdown to choose whether viewing keywords for the document or the available keywords in the project … would need some clever way to copy between though … or perhaps when adding keywords in the inspector instead of freeform input, a dropdown of existing keywords (if necessary, could have the text in the dropdown editable, thus allowing custom entry).
-
Ability to highlight multiple text documents and assign label and status for all at once. This [url]https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/various-issues-that-bug-me/16238/13] seems to indicate it can be done … is it just not available in Windows yet, or am I perhaps crazy?

I cannot help but mention, and don’t feel too guilty since I believe at least a couple of my items count as genuine fresh request … custom meta data. I know it is available on Mac version and thus ultimately on its way to Windows. I cannot stress enough how critical this is for me personally … if this were present, I wouldn’t have the slightest hesitation in making the switch, something which otherwise is a bit of a question mark for me. Again, not trying to use that as leverage, just mentioning it to express the value. I need it to store POV (so I can use label for something more appropriate), date/time/duration, scene intensity/humor/quality/relevance/etc., action/reaction, plot/subplot, and so on. And of course, all the better if they show up in the Inspector.
Truly excellent software you have made here. I’m pretty attached to a couple of features of my current software of many years, and yet I may switch anyway, simply because this is without a doubt the most professional, best designed writing software I have ever seen. Keep up the excellent work!
