I’ve just received an email announcing a sale of Nisus products. I quote:
“The sale starts now and ends on April 30th at midnight PDT. We are offering the full version of Nisus Writer Pro for only $59 (regular price $79). The upgrade is $39 (regular price $49). Nisus Writer Express is now $39 (regular price $45) and the upgrade price is $25 (regular price $30).”
Nisus is what I usually use for the final formatting after compiling from Scrivener. It works very well. I believe they have also been very co-operative with Keith over the years.
Much more than co-operative - Martin at Nisus has always been beyond generous in sharing his intricate knowledge of the vagaries the OS X text system, and his advice has been directly responsible for a number of improvements in Scrivener for Mac’s text editing features (including the ability to have internal links and a table of contents outline in exported PDF files in the upcoming Scrivener 2.3).
Nisus is my preferred word processor, too, so I’d definitely second Martin’s recommendation of checking it out and snapping up this bargain if you like it.
Remember that I am a dumb 'merican (yes there are intelligent ones, but generally they refuse to associate with me) …
For a non-power user who uses pages when they have too, what would be the advantage to Nisus? Everyone says it’s the cat’s meow but I’m not getting why I need to buy it. Keep in mind I don’t have a problem with the price or buying software where I don’t use 90% of the features (I only touch about 2% of what scriv really does).
And yes, I’m trying the trial. Just asking what I’m missing.
Please reread my preamble on the previous post. Assign it to Q.

I think i figured out the killer feature for me. Handling of “evil” files made by a product of that company that will never get a foot hold on my OSX install. All the comment and tracked changes show up RIGHT.
I shall now get in trouble with the wife by clandestinely purchasing adequate licensing to run Nisus on all the macs I know own.
And I am blaming you Martin. And keith, but he’s already in trouble with the Mrs.
Which is odd. Vic-k isn’t in trouble with the Mrs. Granted she does ask “have you heard from your silly friend lately?” to which I reply “which one? and are you now admitting that I have friends?” which illicits the response of “you are not allowed to have friends except that vic guy with all the personalities”. On more than one occasion I have been forced to interrupt my angst filled reading of the windows issues and read the latest vic-k postings. Maybe I should be worried?
