Not on page 1

Just want to note I think the compile- “not on page 1” option is not ideal from a user interface and user friendliness design.

I was trying to create a header that had the page numbers using the page number token, but the header kept starting at page zero.

I discovered the problem was, specifically, if header “not on page 1” is unchecked (checking yes is a double negative!?) and “count page one” is unchecked it starts compiling with the first page containing a header labeled zero.

Also “count page 1” is grey and unselectable if “not on page 1” is unchecked when the user actually needs to select it to start the document count at page 1 rather than page 0. Took me a while to figure out what the program wanted from me. Very frustrating.

Hope that made sense, play around with and it might give you a headache.

This is a bug, actually, so thanks for catching it. if “Not on page 1” is not selected, “Count page 1” is disabled and whether it’s checked or not should make no difference; the page count should start at 1. The only time it would make sense to skip the initial page and consider it as zero is if that page has no header–e.g. it’s a title page, and the actual novel starts on the second page, but we want it numbered as “1”. Users won’t always want this, of course–academic papers may for instance not have a header on the first page, but it still counts as 1–hence the additional option if the user selects to not have the header/footer display on page 1.
