Novel Format Template

I’m writing my memoirs. Not knowing what template to use, I opted for the Novel template. I’m following along with the “How to Use this Template”. I don’t care to use scenes so I followed the procedure outlined under “Working with chapters instead of scenes”. Step 3. I have created a new text document for each chapter. On to stepsibe 4., 5., and 6. Step 6. says to delete “level 3 files and deeper”. I find no way to delete these files. The only option the see that might relate to deleting is, “N/A”. Is this correct? Will step 7. gone on as intended?

Unrelated, one more thing. “Part 1” I renamed to describe all of the Chapters (10) under what was Part 1. Can I create a text file within this folder? Thanks. ~

Hi.
Deleting a file is actually done by moving it to trash.
The function is in the top section of the menu that appears when right-clicking a file in the binder.

You can do anything you want.
Later, when comes the time to compile, you might have to better organise your binder a bit, but for now you don’t have to restrain yourself. If you want a file, add one. (Or two or five or ten. Nothing to worry about.)
Project / New Text (or folder)
Click on the file under which you want your new file to be, then add a file via this menu or the corresponding shortcut / key combo.

(By the way, a project template comes with no specific functionalities that differ from any other template. It is just a starting point, with some elements pre-set differently. But no template prevents anything. You can do absolutely anything you want, regardless of the template you initially picked.)

Key command for deleting a Binder item on the Mac side is Cmd-Delete. As Vincent_Vincent says, what this function does is move the file to the project’s Trash folder. (That is for your safety, b/c it is recoverable. The project trash never empties unless you tell it to.)
