I have now heard from everyone, so unless you purposely drop out at this point (PLEASE DON’T!) you are still in.
I’ll be emailling out all the info packs to the addresses you have provided on or just after midnight (UK time) on the day itself… so about 00:01AM Saturday 20th October 2012.
Fair warning: I won’t be getting to the keyboard until about 15 or so hours into the event. I have a commitment at roughly midnight GMT (6pm Friday on my clock unless I’m getting the time difference all backward), and will have to get some sleep before I can start the words flowing. I figure you’ll start hearing from me at 9am my time, which would be 3pm your time.
For the sake of my sleep-muddled brain, which cannot do math until the sun’s been up a good many hours, can you tell us what major city is in your time zone? I plan to make use of my iphone’s world clock, which just uses the major city & country names, rather than “GMT -6 (Central time US)” or the like.
Should have made it even more complicated and hosted the event on a day which has multiple countries switching out of daylight savings time, but not all of them.
Meanwhile, try this. That should adjust itself depending on where you click from in the world, so the universal time is on the left and the local time window is on the right.
Yippee! I somehow spaced on the time zone effect, and now I’m delighted to find that for me the ‘day’ starts at 7 p.m. Given that my preferred writing time is 9 pm to 2 am, this is splendid news.
Oh – last year there was a thread for people to post in throughout the day, same this year?
i don’t think so. it was fixed for me, i thought, when last i posted and corresponded with you also by email. however, i’ve not gotten a notification from this thread since. i will just have to keep this browser open now, i guess so i can follow. though i may switch to google chrome. there have been several posts since my last post on this thread and i haven’t rcvd any notifications. i’ve even subscribed to this thread.
Check your e-mail spam folder (and make sure your e-mail account in the forum settings is accurate), Montree. Notification will arrive via e-mail, it isn’t something that would be impacted by which browser you use.
I’ve checked the error logs on the server and nothing was in relation with your account, so whatever is broken is escaping the error reporting code. I’d recommend unsubbing and then subbing again if you haven’t already tried that. Otherwise, just leave the window open.
One point worth mentioning, you don’t get an email everytime a new message is posted, you just get one the first time a post is made since you last visited. So if you miss the first email for some reason you wont get another twenty reminders on the next twenty posts.
