Numbered Lists and Chapters

I am writing a technical document broken into chapters. I would like each chapter to be a numbered list starting with the chapter number. Scrivener should use the indents to determine the numbering system as follows:

Chapter 1

1.0 This is the first paragraph
1.1 This is the first subtopic
1.1.1 This is a sub subtopic
1.1.2 This is a sub subtopic
1.2 This is the second subtopic

Chapter 2

2.,0 This is the main topic
2.1 This is the first subtopic of Chapter 2
2.1.1 This is a sub subtopic
2.1.2 This is a sub subtopic
2.2 This is the second subtopic

Can this be done and if so how. Tks.

I have been trying to accomplish something similar. One of the Mac users (Merx) on the forum gave me some direction but what worked on his Mac didn’t work for me on Windows. I’ve attached the files he sent me and you can follow the post here: [url]https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/automatic-hierarchical-section-title-numbering-in-compile/41127/1]

Unfortunately, I don’t think I know enough yet as newbie Scrivener user to understand why it didn’t work for me. Perhaps one of the L&L admins will give you a clear answer, and also explain how to make it work correctly. I got the Heading numbers to work, but not the Text sections.
