Numbering problem with compiling

The compilation worked fine before, but recently has a problem with the numbering. I have the following structure:

Chapter 1
1.1
1.2
Chapter 2
2.1
2.2

and I use <$hn> for the sub-sections. However, starting from Chapter 2, the sub-section won’t start from 1, instead the compiled result looks like:

Chapter 1
1.1
1.2
Chapter 2
2.3
2.4

(also see picture below)

Probably I carelessly changed some configuration? Any idea? Thanks!

It sounds like you aren’t using the hierarchical numbering token for the top level chapter breaks. Perhaps those are standard <$n> style, if so they will not reset the sub-counters internally.

Hi AmberV!

Thanks for your reply! But what do you mean by “chapter breaks”? I specified “Title Prefix” for the top level chapter as: “Chapter <$n>”. It worked before. But since someday, the numbering on the second chapter never reset. I guess I must have changed something that has impact on this.

Yes, that’s what I meant by the chapter break, try using Chapter <$hn> instead, so that they are all on the same counter.

Thanks AmberV! Now it works!
