My backup procedure is to copy the .zip file to another folder, like Documents, and then unzip it there and load the .scriv project that will extract to that location. I just prefer leaving the backup folder untouched as much as possible—it’s probably overly cautious, but humans making mistakes is one reason we keep backups, and so I’d rather not present myself with the opportunity to make mistakes in the backup folder. 
I did this, and it worked!! I have my files back!!!
