Lady Luck smiles on some…but not on oth… 
Someone sent me a copy of the children’s book discussed in the Guardian article. One word: awesome. While not all of the verses in the book worked, even that seemed capture the experience of parents with young children (as anyone would understand who has ever attempted to maintain rhyme and rhythm while reading children’s poetry, aloud, from different picture books by different authors when they are so tired they can hardly see the page). I don’t know if that was intentional, but it worked for me. I will definitely be buying it for my new-parent friends as soon as it is available retail here (how they explain it to their six year olds in a few years time is their problem). 
Further proof that not all children’s books are for children.
