Opening an existing document opens a Chrome screen for Google Syndication

I am working on a document that I started in Scrivener 3 for Mac and ported to Windows. Each time I open the document in Windows, a screen (blank) pops up in Google Chrome. The URL contains the words “googlesyndication dot com”.
That’s all that happens; my document appears to be fine …
What I read about google syndication is that it is the vehicle for supplying ads on websites, and as such isn’t a virus or malware, but why should it appear when I open a Scrivener document? Thanks.

Probably you accidentally pasted the link into the document at some point. It might have come along with an image you copied from the web, for instance.

If you don’t have any intentional links, selecting the entire document and using the Remove Link option should take care of it. If there are links you want to preserve, you can do the same thing on a paragraph or sentence basis.

Removing all links didn’t fix the problem. I can ignore this, but if anyone has any other suggestions, I’ll try them. I’ve learned now that the problem occurs with all documents I open.
