I don’t know whether these are bugs or oversights:
1) In the older version of the program there used to be a field which was the percentage total words vs. target words which is not present now
2) In the new version, there are additional fields related to document targets that do not show up in the Outline *.csv file, “Minimum Target” and “Overrun Allowance”. (See screenshot).
3) [Feature Request] Since you would be working in this exact area if you fix the above issues, would you consider including two new *.csv columns which correspond to the HTML color values for Foreground/Background colors that would be applied to the binder element if “Show Label as Binder Background” were turned on. This would make it a lot easier to format (color-code) rows in resulting spreadsheets.
Why is the MAC thing a concern when hardly anything else in the Windows version is compatible with the MAC version? In fact, even with the new Beta 3.0, the Windows and MAC versions bear only a passing resemblance to each other. There are so many things that the MAC version does and offers that the Windows version doesn’t even get close to doing.
Like what? Comparing the Mac manual to the beta software, everything looks mostly the same to me. This hyperbole doesn’t help your case. In fact, it does the opposite.
No, I was actually being serious. I so often find things about Scrivener online that I would like to know how to do only to find that it’s MAC specific.
I can go on at length about the differences between the versions.
But apparently I’m being hyperbolic when I point this out??

(EDIT - I removed this one because it was evidently an image loaded in scrivener)
This one purports to be version 3.0 for the MAC doing the same thing you said was v1.0, and afaik, the Windows 3.0 version doesn’t do it. If it can, I would appreciate a pointer to how to get it set up.
You want to know how to do those things? You ask here, you silly person, instead of first making ignorant assertions here. I never understood why people allow themselves to get all worked up about something they can’t figure out, and then in their frustration post silliness, instead of simply asking their questions.
Anyway, to your questions:
In your first image, that’s not even the Mac version of Scrivener, it’s the current retail Windows v1.9 version and Aeon Timeline. Aeon Timeline is a separate product that you need to buy from the Aeon Timeline people. It states this clearly in the blog post you linked to. Did you even read it? You can implement that image now with current Windows v1.9. I don’t know if the beta yet integrates with Aeon Timeline or not.
In your second image - that’s Linguistic focus, which is currently a Mac-only feature. You got me there. L&L devs have stated they plan to implement something similar in future Windows 3 releases, but not with the first 3.0 release.
Your third image is–again–not the Mac version of Scrivener, it’s the current retail Windows v1.9 version of Scrivener with the Inspector displayed. The beta’s Inspector looks different, but it’s not that different. This is not rocket science. In the beta, launch the Tutorial and have a look at the rather detailed section that covers the Inspector.
Your fourth point is referring to the Arrange by Label feature. View > Corkboard > Arrange by Label. Make sure you have Label colors turned on. View > Use Label Color In > Index Cards. Again, this is covered in the beta tutorial. See the Corkboard section.
If you have any other questions, I’ll be happy to answer them. Next time you can’t figure something out, take a frickin chill pill and post the question.
As I suggested, go through the Inspector section of the beta tutorial. That will show you how to display the Synopsis and Notes concurrently. Metadata is displayed in the beta on a separate panel, but depending on what you want to see there may be ways around this. (Please note that this change was to make the Win Beta inspector more like the Mac inspector.) , If the Tutorial hasn’t helped get you where you want, come back here and tell us the specific info you are trying to view.
Please forgive me, a Mac user, for butting in. If I’m mistaken, I apologise in advance, and will humbly tuck tail and exit, blushing.
I believe that the last screenshot JWhitten posted is from Scrivener v.2.x for Mac, which version Windows skipped. The current (3.x.x) Mac version does NOT have a three-part Synopsis/metadata/notes Inspector option. Several Mac users have complained about its absence, but it’s not coming back…
Referring to the third screenshot you posted, showing a “POV” field: I believe this is what’s more commonly called the Label field. If you use labels for POV, or Character Arc, or whatever, you can have Scrivener show “POV”, or “Character Arc”, or “whatever” rather than “Label”, but it’s still just the Label field. (Please someone, correct me if I’m wrong!)
Finally, the so-called “Timeline” view: I know that is NOT Aeon Timeline (AT’s timelines look completely different!), but the Corkboard Label View from Mac Scrivener 3.x.x. The order is not by time, but by Binder order, separated into “swim lanes” for each label in the project.
The first image in JWhitten’s post, which they subsequently edited and removed, had a screenshot of an AT image embedded within a Win 1.9 doc. Hence the feedback about AT. And I completely agree that the one labeled “Timeline” is the Corkboard. And you are always welcome to come out of your hole, as long as you’re wearing a face mask and practicing appropriate social distancing. (Now that was a sentence I’d never imagined I’d write.)
