Hi Keith
In the latest version of omni outline (God, I’m sure you hate requests that start like that) they added the ability to display notes inline.
I’ve seen on these boards various workarounds to get more out of the outlining view, but were it possible to either toggle to display all document notes inline or toggle them individually it would open up ways of working that didn’t involve awkward workarounds and I think would be really useful.
Cheers once again…
Nigel
The trouble is that notes support rich text and images and the outline view does not (and cannot). So I’m afraid that is why you will only be able to view one set of notes at a time (in the inspector).
All the best,
Keith
OK, never mind, although I for one would happily forgo the rich text if it meant being able to display notes inline, but I’m probably in a minority of one there…
That would mean no rich text or images in the notes area, either, though, or at least destroying all formatting and deleting images whenever you edited in the outliner view. Perhaps more important is the fact that OmniOutliner uses a custom outline view that the OmniGroup have developed over several years with the sole purpose of being the workhorse of OmniOutliner, whereas Scrivener uses a slightly modified standard Apple control. Scrivener’s outliner will never be as powerful as the one in OmniOutliner because of this.
All the best,
Keith
