After many years knowing this is not a Mac feature, I am wondering if there is way to enable overwrite key as is common in Windows, It would be nice to toggle on/off for insert/overwrite text in Scrivener.
There’s an old thread (2008?) on the Apple Community on this, explaining that it doesn’t exist at system level on Apple OSs or in Apple Products. There is also a much later (2017) discussion. In all of these, it is Microsoft products that have OVR—I believe SAP does too, though I know nothing about that!—and of course Microsoft do not use any Apple UI/API kits, but do their own programming from the ground up.
I guess nothing much has changed from the Apple point of view, and if they don’t provide what’s necessary, you can’t create a shortcut to it and I would think KB is unlikely to be able to provide it for Scrivener.
