Page Count on Footer Bar?

I’ve searched the forums but found only people mentioning it’d be a nice feature, so I’d like to add it to the wish list officially. I’d very much like to be able to display the page count down by the word and character count on the footer bar below the workspace.

This value would be identical to what is in the statistics, however would not require me to have the floating window up at all times to track my progress. It’s a standard feature in word processors which is available in Scrivener, yet nested in a separate window while it’s often displayed on the UI in most word processors.

If this is already present in Scrivener 2.0, please forgive me and I’m eager to use it once it’s officially released. Otherwise I hope it’s a simple variable you can add a display for on the footer bar without too much effort.

The page count is displayed in the footer if you are in page view in Scrivener, yes. Although, just as with the word and character counts, it will only show the page count for the current document, of course (but that’s what Edit Scrivenings is for…). It won’t be able to show the exact page number in the context of the final draft, because otherwise it would have to do a background compile for every letter typed.
All the best,
Keith

Thank you for the reply Keith! Is this a feature exclusive to 2.0 or does it exist in 1.0 as well, and I’m simply unable to figure out how to enable it? When you say “Page view”, you’re referring to the window which displays the text of a document, correct?

There’s no page view in 1.54 so you’ll want to go to View>statistics to see various types of page/word counts. But hey, you’re getting 2.0, today, right?

cheers
William

…oh, and page view is not just the normal editor window, it’s it’s own special view. You’ll find it in the View menu. It divides the text in the editor window into pages - hence the ability to have a page count!

Fantastic! Thank you for your feedback guys! I’ll be snatching up 2.0 the moment it’s released!

It’s released!
Thanks,
Keith
