Paragraph Indent Broken - Please help

When I copy & paste (or paste and match style) blocks of text from a Word doc (RTF format), the paragraph indenting is broken and incorrect when pasted in Scrivener.

Some of the indents are twice as far. When I hit backspace, the text moves all the way back to the left margin. When I hit tab again, the text moves twice as far as it should again (1 inch instead of 0.5 inches). I checked the indent margin setting in preferences, but it’s set correctly. If I type text in a blank Scrivener document, the indents work fine.

I really don’t want to have to re-type a 160,000+ word novel, so being able get this working/fixed would be ideal.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

A couple of things to try: After pasting (even after Paste and Match Style), try Documents > Convert > Formatting to Default Text Style. A dialog will pop up with some options if you care to choose any of them. Sometimes this will fix an issue that remains in pasting from other sources. If that fails, try Format > Ruler to see what the indent setting is for the pasted material. You can at least fix it for the current document that way.

Thanks. I will give that a try and report back.

I was able to get it figured out. I just had to select the entire body of the text in scrivener and reset the indent ruler.

Thanks for the help.

Great, glad that worked!
