Couldn’t find if this had been discussed. Please direct if it’s already been talked about.
Not sure if I can explain this correctly.
I hit the icon to open the beta software. It opened fine, into my manuscript writing.
When I tried to do a copy paste from Word into a document this morning, my screen started fading out, it was saying Scrivener not responding. The software basically froze.
I close the software, choosing close instead of waiting for response (I usually wait 5 minutes for software that says this).
When I open it again the same way, it appears to work fine. I can paste now.
I wouldn’t be concerned about this, except it happened twice in the last 15 hours. It happened last night and again this morning.
I’m not sure if it is a problem with my computer, or if it’s something in the software.
Please advise.
Thank you.
This sounds a lot like the well-known lag bug which affected mostly the older beta versions of the software (although a few folks running the latest version seem to be having some issues as well).
Two quick, easy things to check:
Make sure you’re running Scrivener 1.3 beta. The absolute easiest way to tell is to check the Help menu and see if there’s an About Scrivener item. If so, select it and confirm you have 1.3 (which you should at this point, because this menu item was added in 1.3!)
Make sure your antivirus program isn’t interfering with Scrivener. The easiest way to do this is to either temporarily disable the real-time scanner functionality (how you do this depends on your specific program) or shut the anti-virus service off. (Make sure to turn it back on when you’re done testing!) Symantec/Norton appears to particularly picky and have caused problems for several other users.
