Previous Meta Data section in the toolbar.

So, I was formatting a file from a Doc, for somebody else. I created a new Scrivener file, as I find it easier this way. Anyway, I need to change the author of the document. It used to be possible with Scrivener 2 in the task bar. Has that section been renamed to something else? The meta data on the right of the screen isn’t something I need. I just need to be able to add the basics, ie Author name, rights, date, so that once compiled to a .mobi file, the author doesn’t have my name.

This type of metadata has been moved into the compile pane, since that is really the only place where it had any kind of relevance anyway:

  1. Open File ▸ Compile….
  2. In the overview screen, click the metadata tab on the right side.
  3. When done, hold down the Option key and click the Save button, which will replace the Compile button.

And by the way, the types of fields shown in that tab will change depending on the file type used. If a format only has limited or even no support for built-in metadata then only the basics appear, as they may be used with placeholders. For Mobi and such, you’ll have considerable control over the filing details used in the eBook file itself.

Thank you!

I expected to find it in Project Settings and still think it would have more relevance there. Took a while until I figured that it’s in Compile.

I don’t know what to say except that now you know where we feel it is best put. Wouldn’t it be kind of odd to have the title in one panel and then the other metadata like copyright and comments in other place? That all can’t be centralised since you might want different information in some of these fields depending on the output.
