I would like to print an outline of my project with just titles, indented and with icons like the binder. I think printing from the Outliner was in the “wishlist” for 2.0, but doesn’t seem to be here. Any hope for the future?
For now I screen-shot the outliner and printed them (12 screen-shots, it’s a long project. I hope the outline will help me see my way out of it!) It would be nice if there was an easier way to print this though.
In the Compiler, the Enumerated Outline is pretty close. I like the indents, but don’t want the numbers and couldn’t figure out how to get rid of them.
If you want to get rid of the numbers from the Enumerated Outline preset, you can edit the prefix to remove them. From File > Compile, select “All Options” and the Formatting pane. Change “Format As:” to be Enumerated Outline. The table will show you all the various levels of document–folders, documents-as-containers, documents–all at different levels to represent the hierarchical nesting in your binder. For each level included in your document (or all of them in turn, if you want to make sure you don’t skip any), click on the level in the table, then click on the “Level Settings…” button (just under the table) and delete the final <$hn> and tab character from the “Prefix:” field. Leave any preceding tabs intact, or else you will lose your indents.
I’d love a simple way of printing the outliner too - I find the metadata really useful and although I can export as CSV I lose all the colour coding that way. Screenshots do take a while for a long novel. Thanks so much for a brilliant programme. I love it.
