Problems with Dark Mode text color when syncing project from Dropbox

I am encountering an issue where, using the Dark Mode theme on Scrivener for Windows, text that I typed on iOS and synced to the project stays dark, making it hard to read. Any new text that I type shows up white like its supposed to. It’s only the text that was formatted on another platform and synced in that doesn’t seem to want to change with the theme.

I primarily have been using Scrivener in dark mode on iOS on my iPad - I only just now bought the desktop version for my main laptop, a Windows machine. I use Dropbox to back up my projects, and I downloaded my projects from there to open on Windows, and then ran into this issue.

Has anyone else encountered this? Any ideas on if there is a way to fix it?
Ideally I would like to be able to bounce back and forth between using my Windows machine and my iPad without having to reformat things every time.
Thanks in advance!!

Are you sure you haven’t colored that text by hand using the Black color swatch in the palette?
It might work when you give that text the “No color” option whith the Swatch [/] top left in the color palette.

Thanks for such a quick reply!
I’ve just checked my formatting palette on iOS, highlighting the text that shows up dark on Windows. The text color is set to ‘null’, and on iOS it shows up as a light color in dark mode.

Weirdly, the text that I typed on Windows and synced to iOS shows up in a Courier font for no apparent reason. Seems like maybe there are just a lot of formatting miscommunications between the iOS version and the Windows version?

This is what I suggest too. Select the offending text and set it to no color in Windows. And yes, every now and then I used to encounter this issue myself, but it’s been a long while since I’ve seen it.

The font you’re using in Windows must also be installed on your iOS device, otherwise iOS Scriv will revert to a default font. See the article Using Fonts Across Platforms here: iOS / FAQs - Literature and Latte Support

Awesome, this seems to have been the trick! For whatever reason, setting the font color to NULL on iOS doesn’t seem to communicate to Windows. But when I set the font color to NULL on Windows first, it moves back and forth between the two platforms correctly.

Works for the font as well - the initial default font on Windows was Sitka, which wasn’t available on my iPad, and so had converted to Courier. Once I set it to Arial it all matched up.

Thanks for your help!
