I recently bought a new laptop and have been trying to transfer all my work across but I cannot activate the product using my original serial number.
It accepts the serial number but produces an error when trying to activate. I tried to activate manually by visiting the eSellerate website as per the link provided within Scrivener, but this led to a 502 ‘bad gateway’ error.
Check your spam folder to see if you have a response from the support team.
Make sure you have the latest version of Scrivener. The problem is that ESellerate went out of business several years ago, so the copy you have is trying to contact a server that no longer exists.
You need to transfer the .scriv project folder from your old to new PC. Sounds like you only transferred the .scrivx file. (This is a common mistake, so don’t feel bad if that’s the case!)
Hopefully you still have your old PC or hard drive available.
