Project does not open related files

When I load my Scrivener project.scrivx file, the project opens as a blank new one, with none of the existing files loading. I have confirmed that all of the .rtf files are still present with the text I entered - the system just isn’t connecting to them off of that project.scrivx. Loaded the earliest backup I have and the same problem persists.

Any suggestions as to how I can associate these files with a working project file?

Are there multiple project.scrivx files in the project’s .scriv folder? That could be making it load with the wrong binder file. If that’s the case, try moving the extra project files out of the folder when the project is closed in Scrivener and then reopening.

If there’s only one project file, it may have gotten corrupted (did you have a computer crash while the project was open?). Normally the solution would be to restore from a backup, but if you don’t have an old enough backup, from before the file was damaged, that won’t work. Scrivener does make a backup of that file within the project folder, the binder.backup file inside the .scriv folder’s Files folder, so that might still be good even if the main file is not. You could check by copying that .backup file from the project, changing .backup to .zip, then extracting the project.scrivx file from inside and using it to replace the current one.

I’m not sure though I’m clear on the current state of the binder. When you open the project, do you see the full binder list as it should be, but clicking the items does not load the text in the editor? Or is the binder itself in the default “blank project” state, only showing the Draft, Research, Trash and a blank “Untitled Document”?
