In academic and journalistic writing there is often a strict limit on words. The trouble for the writer is often not in reaching the Project target from below (i.e. writing enough!), but in reducing words to reach the target from well above (i.e. writing too much!) 
And yet in Scrivener, once the green bar is full (i.e. Project target reached) it becomes useless for seeing how far over target the wordcount is and how much needs to be edited out. I would like a Project target bar that goes past the target, perhaps changing colour or pattern on the other side of the target line.
We have plans for something like this already designed, yes. It should, I think, make this tool useful for the cutting phase as well.
This happened to me. The best solution imho is to increase the target incrementally.
