Quick question: Am i correct there is no project template in the current version to create an owner’s manual with (or without) a subject index at the end of the project?

I’m not entirely sure that I know what you want from an “owner’s manual” but, no, there is no such template provided with Scrivener. However, it is easy enough to set up a project in the way you want it, basing it on an existing template if there is one with features that are applicable, or starting from scratch with the blank template. You can then save it as a project template for use in future endeavours of a similar nature.
Note, however, that Scrivener doesn’t include any indexing capabilities, so you will need to create any index as a post-processing exercise in a suitable word processor (or manually) after compiling your output from Scrivener.
