Question about "Open x" in the contextual menu of a word

About the Open “article” feature in a word’s contextual menu, I found that if the article is called “dog, dogs, doggy” (for example), then I can click in any of those words elsewhere in the project and it will offer to take me to the article.

What I would like to know is: is this the only way? Or can I have the different variations (or declensions) of a word somewhere else in the metadata and still keep the feature working? E.g. the contextual menu for the word dogs offering to take to the article “dog”.

I guess this must be an unusual question about a feature that is not so widely used.
In my case, I am coming from DEVONthink 3 which has an automatic mode for wiki linking and the possibility of using aliases. If I could bring it home to Scrivener, so to speak, this would make my life much easier, so any advice is appreciated (perhaps I should just use really long titles for the texts and never show the scrivenings? Should work…).

Cheers everyone.
