Question around syning with external folder

First of all, hello everyone!

I notice that there isnt the option to sync with external folder in the windows version of Scrivener, is this a feature that is likely to be added? I am using the trial version at the moment and whilst its a great program, its not something that I could use if there isn’t the functionality to be able to write on my ipad on the train and my computer during the day.

Apologies if this has been asked before, I searched through a few forum posts but they seem to be more around existing technical issues with syncing on the Mac verision.

Thank you for your time.
Mike

We do plan to add the Sync with External Folder option eventually, but it’s likely to be part of the next major upgrade and not in the 1.x version. We’re working on a version of Scrivener for iOS that will sync with the Mac and Windows versions, and that’s where our main focus is right now, as there’s a lot of work to be done to get the seamless sync we want between the different platforms.

Meanwhile, you can use the File > Export > Files… feature to export plain-text versions of any of your documents. If you export straight to a shared Dropbox folder, you can access and edit them with a variety of iPad programs. A few support rich-text–Textilus is the one that comes to mind, but I think there’s another one I’m forgetting about.

Then, once you’ve made your changes and synced it via Dropbox back to your computer, you can sort the files by modified date and just copy and paste the changes back into the Scrivener documents, or drag and drop to import anything new.
