Does anyone know about a Quicklook plugin to view epub-Files?
My googling only finds a plugin that claims to display the cover image contained in the epub-package.
Meanwhile, I would even be content with a simple epub-Viewer for the Mac …
Given the fact that epub was designed as an open format, it’s astonishing that it is, in fact, the most closed and least accessible format on my computer. When I create an epub-File, the only way I can have a look on the result is to import it into Calibre (which feels like starting up the big bull-dozer to plant a daisy) or to copy it onto my ebook-reader and read it there.
Any hints anybody?
Isn’t there a version of Stanza for the Mac? I think I have one on the MBP, but I’m not at home and I don’t have it on the MBA.

Yes, there is Stanza for Mac and you can also use Calibre for Mac to read and also house your collection of ePub files. Neither is exactly what I would call ideal or slick, but they are quite functional.
There is also Adobe Digital Editions, which while it has a nicer looking interface than either of these, is sorely lacking in features and seems to be written in some toolkit that barely recognises it is on a Mac.

How incredibly ugly this is! OK, it’s free, so one is not supposed to complain, but … It’s hard to believe how anyone is able to consider something like this as a satisfying presentation of a book.
If I was able to program for the Mac, I would have found my niché.
You might want to take a look at Sigil, a multi-platform GPL project.

It’s not exactly beautiful yet – not even approximately, in fact – but it works and it’s free.

I have Sigil, but that’s an editor. I am looking for something that simply views an epub-file on a Mac in a (at least roughly) book-like manner.

Haven’t tried it on Mac, but works quite charming on linux…
I haven’t tried many ebook readers for the mac, but the “Nook Study” reader seems functional, and it’s free, though not open-source.
