re info panel at bottom of Compose screen

Is there a way of keeping the info panel at the bottom of the Compose screen visible without having to position and keep the mouse or trackpad there? Also, is there any way to change the appearance of the panel?

(While going through the Compose preferences section, I did come across the info that you can change the height of the paper in Compose by using the Option key !!!)

There are no options for that, the idea is that if you want the control panel left open, you just leave the pointer down at the bottom of the screen while writing.
