Reading Scrivener file on a Kindle device?

I tried copy&pasting a Scrivener file to my Kindle. The Scrivener explanation for a novel appeared but not my text. Must I compile the file into Mobi before Kindle can read it?

A Scrivener file has its own format – necessary to support its many great features. You should not expect any other software to read such files directly.

You would need to compile your Scrivener project to produce some format that your Kindle can read. The quick answer is Mobi, if you want it just like a Kindle book, but PDF also should work.

Thank you!
