Really stupid

I’m hoping that someone can help me with something stupid that I have done. I’m working off an iPad Pro and the keyboard went berserk this morning and deleted the writing I was working on. I don’t have a backup for this writing - I know, fundamental error.

Is there any way to recover this work?

Is there still an unsynced version on the cloud service, that you can download outside of Scrivener?

And I guess it would be useful to know if you are talking about deletion of some text within a single text doc in your project, or whether you are talking about the deletion/disappearance of some text docs themselves.

If it is the latter, then some further diagnostic work may be in order — to see if those docs are actually gone or something else is afoot.

That’s an idea, thanks, I’ll have a look at iCloud now. I don’t understand why the document will not allow me to do an ‘undo’

It’s just the deletion of the text within the document. I can’t figure out how to undo the deletion

While it probably won’t help you out right now, here are some tips on keeping your work backed up with a portable device.

Otherwise, if undo is already gone (and it can go fast given how iOS works), I can’t think of anything that will help in this case, beyond the suggestions given above.

Many thanks for coming back to me, I have resigned myself to the loss of the work - and a valuable lesson learned.

Thanks also for the link to backing up, much appreciated.

Stupid is something someone does when they should have known better … errant keyboards and other electronic mishaps can just happen w/o warning … doesn’t sound like this is ‘Really stupid’.

I’ve too often lost data, text, images, etc. when I wasn’t paranoid enough to have had multiple backups in place. My prior experience had not yet prepared me for such extremely low probability, high cost events.

Our approach to June 1st, however, without a workable plan, or a safety net … now THAT is STUPID!

Learning from our own mistakes is not as much fun as learning from the mistakes of others.

I console myself with the thought that I am at least providing a guide for others - the guru of error
