I’ve been using Scrivener for over a year and LOVE it!! However, I’ve just updated to version 2.0.1. When I relaunched, I was asked to enter my registration details, which I did - but it’s giving me the ‘invalid serial number’ message. I’ve cut and pasted the serial number name and number from my original receipt but it just won’t accept it. I’ve had to revert to a trial version so I can get on with some work. What do I need to do to get properly registered again before the trial period ends?
Yes, as Hugh says, 2.0 is a paid upgrade to 1.x, so if you bought a year ago it sounds as though you are trying to enter a 1.x serial number into 2.0. The update notification should have made this very clear with big, bold, red lettering:
If you ignored that, or if for some reason you didn’t see that, and then clicked on “Install Update”, you would have replaced 1.54 with the trial version of 2.0. That’s okay, though, you can just revert to 1.54 by re-downloading from here:
I’m an idiot!! I updated without reading the notice - that’ll teach me! Many thanks for replying so quickly. I’ve gone back to the old version for now but will check out what’s in the update.
You’re not the only one, don’t worry - and at least you didn’t shout at us and accuse us of trying to mug you, as a couple of people have done.
Do check out the new version when you get a chance - there’s no pressure to upgrade, but I’ve been working on 2.0 for two years, so it is vastly improved (I think!).
