Remove space after SECTION TITLE in Titled Section Layout

I am trying to remove the space after the SECTION TITLE in the Titled Section Layout in compile so that it looks the same as the Chapter with Title Layout. I’m sure it must be somewhere, but I can’t find it. I’ve included a screenshot of each section. What I’m trying to do is add an image after each title/chapter number. I have a prologue and an epilogue which is what I’m using the Titled Section layouts for. And I want them to be spaced exactly like the Chapter with Title layout. I hope this is clear.

CHAPTER WITH TITLE:

TITLED SECTION:

Thanks!

The only difference I can see between the two screenshots is that the image link in the second is in a different font and is bold, which tends to suggest that you’re using different styles for this element in the two Section Layouts – and, of course, different styles can have different before and after paragraph spacing.

So, the first thing I’d try is clicking on the links in the two Section Layouts, and seeing what Style they’re reporting. If they’re using different styles, then that is something you can investigate.

Similarly, for both Section Types, click on the top two lines (E.g. the title line and the link line) to see if the Format bar changes.)

Now, it may be nothing to do with these, but at least you can rule them out before the real experts arrive to help…

Good idea. But I made them exactly the same and it did not change the spacing. I’m assuming that the Titled Section has a built-in space after its title. But I would think there must be some way to get rid of it.

On windows but have a similar setup and here is where the spacing may come from.

first image mirrors your set up with line after section title before the image.

and if look at title options in the title suffix which places it below the section (or chapter title) you see the pillcrow for the extra line of space. If have this then deleting may get effect you want.

Thanks for the idea, but if I take that paragraph return out, my image appears on the same line as my Section Title. I do not have a return of any kind in the Title Prefix section. My screen looks different, but I see what you did.

Looks like after-paragraph spacing on the section title. Click into the “SECTION TITLE” text in the format editor so that element is focussed, then click the line spacing button on the right of the format bar and choose “Other” to access the full spacing settings. Default for the Titled Section layout in the Paperback formats is 20pts after the paragraph for the title, and 4pts after the chapter number in the Chapter with Title layout—so you probably need to adjust yours to 4pts to match your other layout, but you can double-check.

THANK YOU!!!

That was it. I never even saw that “other” option.

Thanks so much!
