replacing appleworks

One consideration that I have, before purchase, is getting a page count for printing so I can edit to fit on X number of pages before printing. Another is a feature that AW had was the ability to click on 1-3 columns of print. I’m a musician and frequently download lyrics so I want them to fit on 1, or 2 at the most pages. Can this program do these two things?

Scrivener isn’t a page layout program, although you do have controls over font size, spacing, etc. It doesn’t have a ‘fit to xx pages’ feature, but you can output text so that it can be opened in other programs—Pages, for example—for layout editing.

I don’t understand the second feature of AW that you mention. Hope someone else can help.

Well worth downloading the trial version of the software and testing it before you buy. It is fully functional.
