I hope someone can help me.
I have Scrivener set to backup directly to Dropbox. I have it set to keep only the three most recent zip files, because I don’t pay for Dropbox. Stupidly, I didn’t do a Save As directly to my hard drive. I put too much faith in Dropbox I guess.
I got an update and restart notice from my computer. I saved the Scrivener file, the box came up showing it was saving, and I exited.
Computer updated, and when I went to open my project, my entire Research folder was blank, including web pages I had added as pdfs. All my images are missing as well, such as cover images I had added of previous books I had authored. The most recent chapter I was working on disappeared too, but that was only a few paragraphs. The rest of my manuscript is there.
The zip files in Dropbox were no help. I can see the rtf files of my actual book, but none of my research. Months of research work is gone, just like that. I even tried reverting to Previous Versions in Dropbox, but it said the only version it had was the most current one.
I already had the emotional breakdown a few hours ago when this happened. Now my mind is clearer, anyone have any idea? I’ve pretty much accepted I’m not going to recover my research. Maybe there’s a glimmer of hope?
