Reset footnote numbers redux

First, I’m using Scrivener v3.5.2, compiling a novel to Courier manuscript format.

I want to reset my footnote numbers to one with each new chapter in a novel that I’m writing. I know this question has been asked before, but (a) that was in 2002 for a much older version of Scrivener, and (b) I’m a writer and not a computer geek or a publishing geek and nothing from that 2002 item made sense to me. I’m afraid I’m going to need step by step instructions. Can anyone help? I can give you some banjo tabs in return although that might not be the incentive that I think it is.

Thanks

Russ

Hi
:banjo: :musical_notes:

This is from the compile format designer. Where you tell Scrivener how you want your manuscript compiled – the specifics. Such as : non-continuous footnotes numbers.
To access it, double click your current compile format in the list, left side of the compile panel. (Or right-click it for more options.)
Click “Duplicate & Edit” if prompted. That new version will be your version to edit without altering the original one.
(You can mess it up, try things, the original will be there to start fresh whenever you want.)
