Restarting footnotes

I hope this hasn’t been covered a million times before, but–

  1. Is there any way to get my footnote numbering to restart at the beginning of a particular section, such as a new folder, instead of at the start of each new page? I’m working on a dissertation, and would prefer if I could do all my formatting in one Scrivener file, rather than export several separate word files and then stitch them together into a pdf.

  2. Along similar lines, is there any way to ensure that images are displayed on separate pages without interrupting the text in an unnatural way?

I would say that using section breaks to restart footnote numbering would be a lot easier than compiling once for each chapter and then sewing it all together in Word.

Scrivener itself doesn’t have any support for that though, nor advanced image placement. In general it is more trouble than it is worth to try and do everything in Scrivener for a document that has very particular formatting requirements. The best thing to do is come up with a good system for migration once you get to that point.
